The main building of the Hokkaido Colonization Commission Sapporo Main Office, built in October 1897, is a two-story wooden building with a north-south 30.3m (100 shaku) and an east-west 18.8m (60 shaku), and an octagonal tower with a diameter of 9m (30 shaku) on the roof. It disappeared in 1897, and the Hokkaido Main Government Building was built in December 1891 on the adjacent land and restored in 1968.
